Since starting CrossFit a little over a year ago, Jessy has seen life-changing results from the inside out. Not only has Jessy achieved significant physical changes, but she also found a change within herself that has improved her confidence and attitude toward life. Learn more about Jessy’s journey below:
- Where are you from?
I have lived in Orlando since I was two.
- What is your occupation?
Medical Laboratory Scientist at Arnold Palmer Lab. I get to work very closely with doctors which has been a great experience as I’m applying for medical school.
- What was your journey to CFWP?
I was never athletic in high school, but my junior year I started to exercise to lose weight. Since then, I have tried it all – every workout and every fad diet, but nothing seemed to give me long-term results. I saw posts on Facebook about CrossFit from my friend Tek, and I thought it looked dangerous and crazy, but he seemed to love it so I thought I would give it a try. I visited a few boxes initially, but CFWP drastically stood out from the others because they put such an emphasis on safety, and the coaching and community was unlike anything I had experienced. From there, I was hooked. I tell everyone I know not just about CrossFit, but about CFWP specifically. It is the best thing that has ever happened to me.
- How has CFWP changed your life?
When I first came to CFWP, I had just broken up with my boyfriend at the time. I was feeling a sense of freedom from the break-up, but I suffered from low confidence because I wasn’t comfortable in my skin. Since starting at CFWP, my confidence and attitude have completely shifted. CrossFit toned my body, but it also cleared my mind. It’s what gave me the clarity and the confidence to apply for med school. I could not have done it if it were not for what I gained from CFWP.
- What progress/results have you seen since becoming a member?
I have lost 30 pounds since I started CrossFit, but the best results I have seen are within myself. I love the way lifting makes me feel, and my body enjoys and responds to metcons. I have never felt more confident.
- What are you current CrossFit goals?
I want to be a competitive competitor. I’ve competed in five competitions so far, but I ultimately want to RX a competition and come out on podium. Competitions help me reach goals fast because once the workout is announced, I have something to work toward.
