Carrie has been such an inspiration to us at CrossFit Winter Park. We are so proud of her and what she’s accomplished both in and out of the gym. She committed to make a change, put in the work, followed through, and saw amazing results. It’s not over, her journey has really only just begun. She has set more goals for herself and we know that she will accomplish them as well!
What was your inspiration to make a life change and step into the gym and commit to healthy eating?
Being sick and tired of being sick and tired was a huge inspiration in making this life style change. In 2012 I lost 35lbs, but the weight slowly came back on plus more over time. With this being my second attempt at weight loss I knew this time had to be different in my approach. I’ve tried CrossFit before and knew it would provide a competitive environment that would allow me to constantly grow in my fitness goals. CrossFit Winter Park seemed like the place to pursue this change after the trial workout!
How soon after making the commitment to change did you start seeing results?
After buckling down with the commitment to change in November, coworkers and family members noticed changes in my appearance in February. By April I saw big increases in my endurance as well as my clothes becoming looser. So far I’ve lost about 43lbs and am still going.
Tell us a little bit about what you changed in terms of your nutrition and workout program?
When I started CrossFit, I also started to count macros. It helped gain a better understanding of just how much food I should be eating in terms of the right mix of carbs, fats and proteins. I also incorporated more veggies and fiber into my diet. In terms of working out, I went from being completely sedentary to attending CrossFit 3 times a week in late November through January. Then in February, I increased my attendance to 5-6 times a week.
